A GPS monitoring and positioning system for taxis, urban transport, and vessels. Connected to an existing two-way radio network, VECOM G.Track marks a new breakthrough for the taxi and urban transport business. All information on routes, vehicle speed, pick-up and drop-off times and more is updated and stored at the Taxi Operations Centre, helping dispatchers announce exactly which vehicle is closest to a pick-up point. The system was researched and built at Vinh Hien E-Commerce Trading Co., Ltd on a US GPS chipset.

System configuration

The system comprises the RPLink V2.0 unit installed on each vehicle and the RPLink-Master Central Control unit at the operations centre. The G.TRACK system was researched and built at Vinh Hien E-Commerce Trading Co., Ltd on a US GPS chipset.

Real-world deployment

On 10/3/2006, Vinh Hien officially introduced the G.TRACK TAXI MONITORING - POSITIONING SYSTEM to SASCO Taxi JSC, installing RPLink V2.0 units on a number of AirPort Taxi and Saigon Sasco Taxi vehicles together with the RPLink-Master Central Control unit. Once the system was fully installed, dispatchers at the taxi operations centre at SASCO headquarters could monitor the routes of the equipped vehicles.

After installation, the G.TRACK system maintained voice communications between the dispatch centre and the vehicles, without affecting the operator's existing activities, while adding new information: vehicle position, speed, and status.

On 26-06-2006, MAILINH Taxi and VINATAXI - ComfortDelgro also trialled the G.TRACK Systems positioning system.
